Introducing…a new type of post at Hiking in the Holyland: picnic spots or pinot chemed as they say in Hebrew. These are nice places to drive right up and have a nice picnic, soaking up the scenery while you relax and enjoy nature.

Today’s recommendation is Khirbet Tsora (Tsura?), a beautiful flat hill with magical, 360 degree views of the surrounding area. Up atop the hill, there’s a cool set of ancient ruins to explore. You can perch yourself on top of the ruins, or just spread out a picnic blanket anywhere you please. Enjoy magical sunrises and sunsets, gorgeous flowers in winter and spring, and fabulous views any time of the year.

This spot is pretty easily accessible by car, but the last part of the road is a bit rocky. You don’t need a 4×4, but you may wish you had one!

It’s a beautiful day for nature!
