Low trust societies do not have this.  Low trust societies fall apart.

The cuckoo and the woodpecker sing away, counting down the time between news headlines and army updates.

Still, I’ll say my prayers, answer the WhatsApp polls, and do as one friend suggested, “Just close your eyes and send your son hugs.  I think he can feel it.”

We treasure future and perpetuity.  And that’s what makes us strong.

We turn our eyes to Heaven, searching for the words to express our pain, our worry and our longing.
