Hiking Guides

    Ben Zaltzman

My name is Ben Zaltzman, I’m a tour guide and a hiker in Israel who leads people on trails around the country.
I fell in love with nature at a young age.
While exploring the wide open spaces of nature, I came to know that it was the place where I belong.
A question I ask during our journeys is, “What happens to me in nature?”
I found secret hiking trails, discovered magical corners in the country, and have been guiding others through my experiences.
The trips I lead are about nature connection, the power of being in nature, and the changing environment.
I’m an expert at long-distance hikes. I hiked for 6 month along the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, and have gone on lots of other journeys in Israel and abroad.
    Education:
Tour guiding course of the ministry of tourism, birdwatching course (Israeli SPN), educational tours (ministry of education), Storytelling, hunter-gatherers life skills, group dynamics leader, tour educator (on Birthright), Nature cure & connection journey.

  1. I’d love very much to go hiking in the Holy Land. I know someone here in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia who has gone to the Holy Land.

Now I keep telling people my next overseas trip will be to Jerusalem and that way it will happen.

There are some people the Friends of the Box Ironbark Forest walkers, and Bernard who is the head of the group, he has been to Jerusalem.

One day I will go hiking in the Holy Land and I am a million percent sure of that.

I am a R.N. Div. 1 now retired previously worked at Royal Darwin Hospital, now living in Castlemaine, where I own a house, and it is 120kms. north of Melbourne.

(I was also tortured, was told it was a ‘Hitler style torture’ and that was a long time ago, when I was 47 and was there in Buenos Aires airport, and

also terrible things happened also, by Kerin, Crowe, I use to work with Kerin, he was the Assistant Accountant at the State Library/Museum, in Melbourne,

and I was a typist in the same office. That was 1983, and since then did a Bachelor of Nursing, at Australian Catholic University, and now am retired,

because of another torture situation, to do with three mediums, from Brazil security, the problem is, I went to Abadiania, Goias, Brazil to see Joao de Deus,

(who also was my Form 1D Maths teacher in 1967 at Firbank C.E.G.G.S. Brighton.) Joao (or Shirley Willis) was a bad person back then too.

One day it will happen I will go hiking in the Holyland. I know that for use, it’s just that we have a very bad Prime Minister at the present time,

and I also walk with the Jewish Museum walkers, and they say it’s not a good idea to seek political asylum off Israel, because it’s not such a good country either.
