Tel Azeka & the Forests of Park Britannia
Sunday, January 22: Join Hiking the Holyland and expert guide Ben Zaltzman for a beautiful and fascinating hike to Tel Azeka through the forests of Park Britannia! This will be the first in a monthly series covering “Telim”, the ancient sites of Israel hidden in nature.
This 6 kilometer moderate hike will head through beautiful forests, past winter wildflowers and gorgeous views. We’ll learn about the history of Tel Azeka, mentioned in the Bible in relation to the story of David and Goliath. We’ll also explore the remnants of other time periods, seeing ancient cistern, wells, and wine presses as we soak up the magnificent scenery along the trail. Midway through our journey, we’ll stop for a break with tea made from herbs picked along the path.
This is a moderately challenging trail, suitable for those who can hike up and downhill over uneven terrain. Lace up your hiking boots, and come and join us!
Roundtrip transportation from Jerusalem available at an additional cost of 80 NIS. We realize that sometimes your plans change – you can cancel your registration up to one week before the hike.

Ben ZaltzmanMy name is Ben Zaltzman, I’m a tour guide and a hiker in Israel who leads people on trails around the country.Â
I fell in love with nature at a young age.
While exploring the wide open spaces of nature, I came to know that it was the place where I belong.
A question I ask during our journeys is, “What happens to me in nature?”
I found secret hiking trails, discovered magical corners in the country, and have been guiding others through my experiences.
The trips I lead are about nature connection, the power of being in nature, and the changing environment.
I’m an expert at long-distance hikes. I hiked for 6 month along the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, and have gone on lots of other journeys in Israel and abroad.
