Tavor Stream: The Most Beautiful Hike of the Season

Sunday, March 13th: Join us on an adventure at the most beautiful trail of the season, at Nahal Tavor in the Galilee!

The Tavor Stream sits at the foot of Mount Tavor, where Deborah and Barak defeated the Canaanite general Sisera in Biblical times.  Nowadays, the stream is home to a massive explosion of wildflowers in the month of March.

On this 6 kilometer adventure, we’ll be heading into a lush, green valley past fields of wildflowers, towards the bubbling stream below.  Then, we’ll walk along the water, crossing back and forth in a few places until we reach the beautiful Basalt Waterfall.  From there, we’ll continue along the stream through masses of purples lupines, then tackle a short but steep ascent past flowers and farmland to return to the trailhead.

I’ll be there along with expert guide Ben Zaltzman, who will lead us on our journey.  Midway through our adventure, we’ll stop for hot tea made from freshly picked herbs gathered on the trail.

This hike is in the Galilee region of Israel.  The trail is not long, but it can be considered challenging as it does involve a steep ascent along with a bit of fancy footwork as we will cross the river in several places.  Wear water shoes if you can, so you don’t have to worry about getting wet.

Paid, round trip transport from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv available for an additional 100 NIS per person.

It’s going to be a day full of historyadventure, and great natural beauty.  Experience the best of the season at Nahal Tavor!

My name is Ben Zaltzman, I’m a tour guide and a hiker in Israel who leads people on trails around the country.
I fell in love with nature at a young age.
While exploring the wide open spaces of nature, I came to know that it was the place where I belong.
A question I ask during our journeys is, “What happens to me in nature?”
I found secret hiking trails, discovered magical corners in the country, and have been guiding others through my experiences.
The trips I lead are about nature connection, the power of being in nature, and the changing environment.
I’m an expert at long-distance hikes. I hiked for 6 month along the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, and have gone on lots of other journeys in Israel and abroad.
    Education:

  1. I would so love to do this hike, and hope it is repeated in March 2023! I am semi-retired but not quite fully and cannot go this year, but next year!
