Sunset Hike at the Sorek Estuary Nature Reserve

Wednesday, May 25th:  Join Hiking the Holyland and expert guide Ben Zaltzman on a beautiful sunset adventure in the Sorek Esturary at Palmahim.  This easy 4 kilometer hike will take us through relatively flat terrain along the Sorek Stream, a river that runs from the Jerusalem area to the Mediterranean Sea.

The Sorek Stream is an area rich with wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and butterflies.  This nature reserve in Central Israel is unique in the area.  Past the shady eucalyptus grove, spring wildflowers grow abundantly.  Our guide Ben will teach us about this amazing stream and how it has changed throughout history.

Towards the end of  the hike, we will reach a stunning viewpoint on the sand dunes where we’ll watch the sun set over the sea with a glass of wine and some snacks.  We’ll walk back to the trailhead as the sun fades before nightfall.

This easy (but incredible!) hike is suitable for people of many ages and skill levels.  Dogs are allowed on a leash.  Contact me for special discount prices for couples and families.  Roundtrip minibus transport available from Jerusalem for 100 NIS per person (pickup may be available from other locations).  See GPS links below for Waze and Moovit instructions.

My name is Ben Zaltzman, I’m a tour guide and a hiker in Israel who leads people on trails around the country.
I fell in love with nature at a young age.
While exploring the wide open spaces of nature, I came to know that it was the place where I belong.
A question I ask during our journeys is, “What happens to me in nature?”
I found secret hiking trails, discovered magical corners in the country, and have been guiding others through my experiences.
The trips I lead are about nature connection, the power of being in nature, and the changing environment.
I’m an expert at long-distance hikes. I hiked for 6 month along the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, and have gone on lots of other journeys in Israel and abroad.
    Education:
Tour guiding course of the ministry of tourism, birdwatching course (Israeli SPN), educational tours (ministry of education), Storytelling, hunter-gatherers life skills, group dynamics leader, tour educator (on Birthright), Nature cure & connection journey.
