Israel Trail #44: Back to Yatir
Sunday, January 4th: Join Hiking the Holyland and our expert guide for a 15 kilometer, 44th segment of the Israel Trail through Yatir Forest.
We’ll start right in the middle of Yatir, the largest forest in all of Israel. From there, we will walk towards the ranger’s station and enjoy a hot cup of coffee and an intro on the way. Then we’ll continue hiking along the the trail through Yatir Forest towards Mount Amasa. We’ll stop for a lunch break at midday , and continue to hike through Yatir Forest, searching for new winter wildflowers. After that, we’ll continue along towards the end of the trail at Darijat, where we will take in the beginning of the golden hour as we complete the 44th segment of the Israel Trail with wine and snacks!
This 15 kilometer trail is for fit hikers only. Minibus transportation available from Savidor Station for an extra fee of 110-140 NIS.

Ben ZaltzmanMy name is Ben Zaltzman, I’m a tour guide and a hiker in Israel who leads people on trails around the country.
I fell in love with nature at a young age.
While exploring the wide open spaces of nature, I came to know that it was the place where I belong.
A question I ask during our journeys is, “What happens to me in nature?”
I found secret hiking trails, discovered magical corners in the country, and have been guiding others through my experiences.
The trips I lead are about nature connection, the power of being in nature, and the changing environment.
I’m an expert at long-distance hikes. I hiked for 6 month along the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, and have gone on lots of other journeys in Israel and abroad.
