Exploring Nahal Tekoa “The Bryce Canyon of Israel” February 2022

Friday morning, February 18th: Join Hiking the Holyland and expert hiking guide Arky Staiman this February on a hike through Nahal Tekoa, “The Bryce Canyon of Israel.”  Come on a hike with us and you’ll see why Nahal Tekoa has earned this name.

For centuries, Nahal Tekoa was a favorite spot for monks and religious figures.  The silence, the stark beauty, and the breathtaking scenery of the valley drew them in.

On our 3 1/2 hour journey, we’ll be hiking through a green forest towards a dramatic valley.  In Nahal Tekoa itself, we’ll learn about the Biblical importance of the area, and hear the story of King Herod’s affinity for this magnificent part of Israel.  Then, we’ll stop in to visit Haritoun Cave, the largest and most impressive cave system in all of Israel.  See the views, dip your feet in a spring, and enjoy our adventure in the safety of a group and with the knowledge of our expert guide.

Bring snacks, water, and a flashlight.  Wear good walking shoes and long pants.  This 3.5 hour adventure is going to be awesome!

This is a moderate trail suitable for hikers of many skill levels.  The trail is about 4.5 kilometers with a 300 meter slow ascent.  Nahal Tekoa is located in Judea and Samaria.  Round trip transportation will be provided from Jerusalem (First Station Parking Lot) for 80 NIS, upon request.  Space is limited, so register early!
