We just focused on our journey, one step at a time. It was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives.

I’m thankful to live in a place where something as momentous as a three day trek is practically a shared national experience.

Holy sites, places of worship, religious institutions, and graves of the righteous can be found everywhere in the country. But there’s another aspect of Israel that speaks to the spirit: the physical land itself.

It’s no trek along the Great Appalachian Trail, but even small forests and woods can feel like an escape into another world. And these doorways to magical experiences are all around us.

Despite all of the perceived slowness, my days were fuller than ever: of accomplishment, discovery, and deep joy.
