Israel Trail #55–56: Small Makhtesh to Oron (2 days)
Sunday–Monday, February 28 – March 1: Join Hiking the Holyland and our expert guide for the final trip of our Israel Trail desert season, from the rim of the Small Makhtesh toward the Big Makhtesh. On Sunday we’ll hike 14 km past Ma’ale Akrabim, the famous Scorpions’ Ascent, and the ancient fortress of Metzad Tzafir, then make our way down Ma’ale Yamin to the desert spring at Ein Yorke’am. We’ll spend the night at a hotel in the Dimona or Yeruham area, with dinner and breakfast. Monday is a short, sweet 6 km morning on the trail to Oron, followed by a sightseeing stop nearby, and a celebration of everything we’ve walked together this season! Good to know
