Full Moon Hike at Spring Valley in the Ayalon Reserve
Have you ever hiked a trail by the light of a full moon?
Join Hiking the Holyland on Thursday, November 18th at 7:00 PM for a moonlight hike at the Ayalon Reserve in Central Israel. I’ll be there along with expert hiking guide Ben Zaltzman. Together, we’ll walk by the light of the full moon past a freshwater spring, through a deep forest, and up to a lookout at Tel Aked. The Ayalon Reserve is an area with natural beauty and rich history. Our guide will tell us the tales that took place in this quiet nature reserve, from Joshua to the Maccabees, and beyond.
The Valley of Ayalon is mentioned in the book of Joshua, “O sun, stand still upon Gibeon, and you, O moon, in the Valley of Ayalon.”
Hike along with us as we listen to the night sounds and search for nocturnal animals in the forest. We’ll stop for hot tea, apple cider, and a cozy bonfire along the way. Spring Valley in the Ayalon Reserve is a perfect place for a full moon hike in the great outdoors. The views from Tel Aked in the moonlight are simply spectacular.
This moderate trail is suitable for hikers of all skill levels. The trail is about 5 kilometers, and is relatively flat.

Ben Zaltzman
My name is Ben Zaltzman, I’m a tour guide and a hiker in Israel who leads people on trails around the country.
I fell in love with nature at a young age.
While exploring the wide open spaces of nature, I came to know that it was the place where I belong.
A question I ask during our journeys is, “What happens to me in nature?”
I found secret hiking trails, discovered magical corners in the country, and have been guiding others through my experiences.
The trips I lead are about nature connection, the power of being in nature, and the changing environment.
I’m an expert at long-distance hikes. I hiked for 6 month along the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, and have gone on lots of other journeys in Israel and abroad.
Education:
Tour guiding course of the ministry of tourism, birdwatching course (Israeli SPN), educational tours (ministry of education), Storytelling, hunter-gatherers life skills, group dynamics leader, tour educator (on Birthright), Nature cure & connection journey.
Does one need to pass go and collect 200 or is an out of jail card sufficient???
in case the message was to cryptic….green pass mandatory or just to be a humanoid enough?
Yes, that was definitely cryptic! No green pass necessary as the hike will be a small group and completely outdoors 🙂
Can in take a dog on the hike?

Is it a round trip hike? If not, how do we return to the car?
